Found a home

It’s RM260 in rent per month, upfront deposit required is RM520+1mth rent. It looks interesting, it’s in an area I am fairly familiar with, but I don’t have the money to move in in November. December or Jan sounds good though.
Am planning to check it out next week. Apparently it’s an all-girls place with basic amenities including washing machine. No aircon (which I can live without) and no Internet (which I can’t). This looks interesting.
And yes, I’m taking baby steps to moving out. No my parents don’t know and I don’t plan to let them know… Yet.

I’ve actually meant to do this for quite some time now, but I keep forgetting, and when I do remember, I’m too lazy to post it. So, what is it that I keep delaying?
It’s my post to ask who reads this blog and why do you guys keep coming back. ^_^ As most of you would know, I love procrastinating and being lazy, so I’ve used a Poll that’s from Advertlets requesting just the basic details: what do you do, how old you are, and whether you’re Male or Female. If you’re neither, both and confused, please let me know! It’d be cool to know that I have such readers (mainly cause I would like to meet you guys in real life! )
After this I got to figure out how to get the theme I’m using now to hide the sidebar. I’m actually still not satisfied with it, and I need to prod Edrei who’s on a sem/mid-sem break now to help. As you can tell, I don’t like having too many things in the sidebar. While I AM a messy person by Nature, I don’t like seeing messy things on my own blog. Makes it harder for me to look for things.
Which reminds me that I need to look into updating my WP to 2.3. (Thanks [Pelfy] for the reminder!) You know, I realise that this is more fun than Puzzle Pirates, which I have been addicted to for the past two weeks. But nothing still beats GaiaOnline, which I enjoy the most.
Also, as /. is turning 10 this year, anyone know of any /.parties in the neighbourhood?

Preventing chapped lips

I normally use water to prevent chapped lips by drinking water and keep my lips moist enough. But in recent days, this has not been enough. The weather and airconditioner in the office has made my lips crack several times, and made me thirstier because of that. So the latest alternative is putting my lip balm to good use.
I use Mentholatum Lip Ice’ Strawberry Lip Balm (I prefer Lemon but I misplaced it quite some time ago) to this effect. It prevents your lips from chapping and chafing (not sure if I used that right). It also prevents you from feeling thirsty about 30% of the time. Before using the lip balm, I would have to take a sip every hour (or less). This at least, has meant less trips to the toilet.

Death, Life and Friends

Was looking through my Livejournal friendslist when I came across this piece by a good friend. The first that came to mind was Boss’ passing. More specifically, a comment that was made by someone. I can’t remember who heard it, who said it, or even what was said specifically, but it was a comment that I was quite surprised at.
“Who’s this guy, that so many came to say goodbye to him?”
The other was,
“He must have been a really good guy to have so many friends.”
Both of which were true. There were, of course, a number of others who wanted to go but didn’t, but in the end, I suppose what’s more important is the memory of him. I’m not sure how his parents would take it, but I suppose family members would feel surprised and perhaps happy that so many people came to say goodbye? I could only hope for something like that.
This also brings another point: I want to have an outing with my college friends. Specifically, with Tai Ka Che Lin and Vivian. Demouse, Ade, if you’re ever back in Malaysia, your presence is COMPLUSORY, you hear that?
Other LKW-ites are also invited, though I’d like to make this an all girls outing if you guys don’t mind. So… who’s up for it?
Human-Animal Embryos

Was thinking of posting something else on my Geminianeyes but this caught my attention instead. First off, I’m horrified, at least that was my first reaction.
The second was “This is so cool! It’s something out of science fiction!”
Third reaction, “I wonder how long it’ll be before someone decides to carry the baby to term and we end up with people like furries or something? Would the baby be confused?”
The longer thought that came to mind was, “They say that they’re going to do research on the cells and destroy the embryos after 14 days. How sure are we that the cells are pure? That is, untainted by non-human cells. Would the research still be viable? Would the results still apply?”

I can see why the son would not want to listen to his mother. I had the same argument with my parents before this, and what really pisses me off is that the parents (or is it just the mother) did not even give the girl a chance to understand their religion before simply brushing her off. You claim to serve God, but I don’t see any serving of God. What I do see are servings of hypocrisy.
Congratulations, Angry Mum. You’re a proof of the Malay saying, “Biar mati anak, jangan mati adat.” Better for the child to die than the tradition.
And people wonder why I’m disillusioned with the Church and the people that inhabit her in general.

If it weren’t for you, I would not have accepted those who are different from me, especially those who had different views on sexuality than I did. You made me see beyond the superficial interests to the person beneath.

If it weren’t for you, I would never have learnt how to smile in spite of the odds against you, especially parents.

Advice columns

Some must die. The advice columns, I mean, NOT the people themselves, although if they do believe what they wrote, they should be sequestered away from society for the rest of their natural lives. I’ll speak in Bahasa Malaysia for the rest of the entry, as the article in question is in BM.
Ya Allah! Cakap apa perempuan ini? Budak itu yang keliru, dia pulak senang-senang aje tanya samada gadis itu terlalu seksi atau manja sehingga dicabul berulang-ulang. Lagipun, mengikut kata-kata Dang Setia, kerana dah terlalu lama kejadian itu terjadi, tak payahlah gadis itu melaporkannya kepada siapa-siapa. Mak oi…. Nak cakap jaga perlakuan itu, cakaplah, tapi janganlah sampai menunjukkan diri Dang Setia macam mulia sangat. Gadis itu dah trauma, Dang Setia tambahkan trauma dia lagi.
Ish… Dunia ini dah terbalik.
Safe in Penang

Like the post said, I’ve reached here safely, though there was a bit of drama in the end with Tsubasa’s sis but it’s ok.
Parents have taken my word that I will break up with Raz so that they won’t come up to Penang. I’ve promised, so I shall… Still hate being treated like a kid though, and yet when they scream at me, I can’t quite find the words nor the courage to scream back at them. I’m taking things one day at a time though now… Definately will move out from home. Just need to find a place that won’t kill my money, that’s all.
