But begs a question: is it so hard to get into a relationship that one is loved for one’s self, rather than having to actually note that a desirable trait to have is that the person loves you?

…I don’t understand the question.
I think she means that falling in love is so difficult because a person is not loved for who he/she is, but is loved because that person admits (publicly/privately) love FIRST.
