[101] Forlorn Hope

She did not expect his request. A late-night walk. She was no stranger to them, but he was. Still, she could not refuse his request, though the wound from the months before was still fresh. She did not hate him for that. Love was odd.

As she came out of her road, he met her. Sheepishly, he suggested a walk in the park, his hand behind his head. She agreed. Their conversation was amicable, mainly about what happened in their lives. The subject of romance never came up.

As they reached the park, he asked her, “Do you still love me?”
