10 years ago

1. Was looking forward to the Commonwealth Games- bought into the hype when I was 10 years old.

2. Started buying manga for my own collection- Sailormoon, GS Mikami, Dragonball, Dragon Quest, Yuyu Hakusho

3. Did not have an ambition

4. Was wooed by my first ex ala secret admirer

5. Got my handbag snatched for the first time and instead of being scared, actually ran after the stupid thieves. Idiotic waiter simply stood there watching from a nearby restaurant

1. Enjoyed life in Taman Mayang college

2. Took trips on the LRT for fun with 2nd ex.

3. Confidence was at the highest level, beginning to really learn how to utilise the Net.

4. Had a goal set: I want to be a writer

5. Started working like crazy to get money for assignments.

1. Graduated from college, damnit I want my cert.

2. Broke up with ex, then got together with 3rd ex, got broken not soon after

3. Learnt how precious friends were, and how easy it is to trust and be broken

4. Learnt to be patient, to hold on

5. Played with IRC, how to hang on to families.

1. He was here to celebrate my birthday.

2. Learnt just how racist my parents were, and how much outsiders care for you

3. Appreciated family, realising that I love, and am loved by the people around me

4. Finished Nanowrimo for the first time and suffered a burnout not long after

5. Grew, I think, emotionally, perhaps even matured a little. But it’s a long road, and I’m reclaiming myself after what happened a few years ago when I got broken.

So far this year

1. Learning, hopefully, not to take things for granted

2. Appreciate my body and take care of it more

3. Procrastinating on cleaning my room. 😛

4. Got my PayPal verified!

5. One year at current job and loving it! 😀

Yesterday

1. Became frustrated at GDocs for spreadsheets (and discovered just how much loathe I have for the way spreadsheets are in Excel)

2. Zoned out playing Para and Mario Go Kart in the arcade, then at home it was Granado Espada

3. Bought gym clothes! 😀

4. Promised myself to really move out by August.

5. Turned down an event invite for the opportunity to clean my room instead. YOSH! THINGS MUST GO!

Today…

1. Dinner and movie (the latter hopefully)

2. Realised that while we’re in love and entwined with each other, we can still lead our own lives and have our own social circle… for which I am truly thankful for.

3. Is very amused by a friend. (Sorry Yuhi!)

4. Discovered a distant relative (Yo Mask!)

5. Smiled at Aiko’s postcard and vow to take it’s words:

You know how sometimes people on your friend’s list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think “Wait a minute? Since when are they working THERE? Since when are they dating HIM/HER? since when???” And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you *should* already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

1. First Name:
Naoko, or Ionna to new IRC-ans. My real name is a Latin for Noblewoman.

2. Age:
2 zodiac cycles completed.

3. Location:
Malaysia. I think.

4. Occupation:
Copywriter by profession. Insane novellist, counsellor, big sister, rabid gamer, lovable (*cough!*) fangirl, and seme at all other times. I have a lot of roles, and as occupation is basically something that occupies your time, I suppose this is right. 🙂

5. Partner:
^____________^ Heh. Yes, I have one. And hopefully we’ll be each other’s partner for life.

6. Kids:
By blood or from my womb… none. Adopted? Onini, Mika, Neko, Mintos, May, and now Kakei (I think). I have a tendency to adopt people, to care for them, and more importantly, to give them a place to hang on to. Generally these are also people I feel very close to. 🙂

7. Brothers/Sisters:
By blood: 1 younger brother
Adopted: 4 older brothers, 5 younger sisters, 1 younger brother
Like having kids, but these are people whom I turn to in times of trouble. Yes, I feel protective over them too.

8. Pets:
Used to have fishes and the family has two pet dogs, but these aren’t mine. They’re dad’s and bro’s. 😛

a. Work.
b. Love.
c. Writing for pleasure.
d. Clearing up loose ends and strengthening relationships.
e. Striking a balance between all the roles I play.

10. Parents:
I love and hate my parents. Or rather, I love my dad’s family, tolerate my dad, hate mom’s family, and love mom. Silly, isn’t it?

I suppose it’s because I can’t quite relate to my dad- too similar in many aspects and absolutely inane in others, not to mention dad is a blatant racist. For him, it’s ok to be friends with anyone, but you absolutely cannot fall in love with a Muslim. Then there’s that whole “I’m saying it from your grandmother’s POV when I actually mean myself” thing going on. I’ve learnt and slowly realised that many of the things he tells me to think from my grandma’s POV is actually his own, such as “Have you thought about what it will do to your grandma?” when he means himself. Dad has high hopes for me, and I take delight in disappointing him on that score; he may be my father, but I don’t have the same regard as I would a parent, but rather as just another human being who has to earn my respect.

Hey, at least it’s an improvement from me hating him (don’t ask). I appreciate what he’s done in my life though, but it’s highly unlikely I’ll ever be at ease with him. I suppose it’s also because I just don’t trust him. At least, not as a father.

Mom’s another one. If anything, I suspect she sees in me the chance she gave up when she chose to marry my dad. She wants me to be always stylish, or at least presentable. She wants me to take care of my skin, and that to think about what others are thinking (or rather, in Chinese, about her face and dad’s). Me, I couldn’t care less about it. I grew up believing in using my own self-worth to measure what I want/need in life, and I don’t believe in taking apperances too seriously. Why should you feel embarassed for something you can’t control?

I can’t stand fashion and trends, and I hate it when mom starts pointing them out to me.

Yet for everything, I love Mom more than dad maybe because mom actually does share once in a blue moon about what happened in her life, the choices she makes, etc. I understand, to an extent, her better than I do my dad. That and I remember the caresses of a mother for a sleeping child with her hand in the Bible because she was afraid of the dark.
