He pushed the glasses back up on his nose, trying to focus. The apartment was quiet without her, and if he focused on his work, he probably would not have time to feel lonely. The jingle of keys and the subsequent opening of the door made him look first at the time and then at the door. She was home early today.
“Hi,” he greeted her as she came in.
“Hi,” she locked the door, dropped the suitcase and sat in his lap. “Too tired to move,” she cuddled him.
Gently, he pushed her away, then lifted her chin. They kissed.
