[101]Silence Unspoken

Quiet quiet quiet
The house lay still
Not a breath not a breeze
That ever came out from that old house

Crunch of leaves
Boys playing truant
It stood there a long time
Silent, forbidding.

They ran out.
Small little things
Whom the house had protected

Crash crash crash!
One after the other
The heavy stones fell
The glass shattered

Crash crash crash!
The frames fell out
Wind entered the old house
Where none but little things had lived

Crash crash crash THUD!
The stone landed on an old mole
In a single throw
His life ended

Crash crash crash!
