Comic Fiesta in 25 hours and counting

I won’t be in till Monday I believe, though if I manage to get WiFi working at Pyramid I may be able to update. Hope to see you all there at Comic Fiesta 2008!

[Chris], I hope you’re reading this, because I just heard from a friend that we’re also having characters from Soul Calibur appearing. Specifically, we are going to be seeing a completely-costume-accurate Sigmund Siegfried (as you can tell I don’t really play the game). Please also remind TTL, Karen, [Joicy] and the others. I’m looking forward to seeing you all there!! 😀

On another note… Blood+ is nothing short of epic. I skipped to watch the last 15 eps or so (the London/New York arc, which is where my costume is from) and I can honestly say, I have never seen an anime more well-executed. They don’t have the usual cutesy-exaggerated faces that most other animes do, and although there are some parts where the animation looked a little blurred, I find myself hearting it all the same.

The fight between Haji and Amshel was one of the highlights. They truly looked like two dragons fighting in the night sky. I love how the emotions were portrayed, especially when it came to Saya and Diva. Here’s a random piece I wrote when I first saw the episode about a year or so ago (link is to my DeviantArt account).

Poor Diva. She always seemed to get the short end of the stick, but perhaps that was just how things were. Although she was arrogant, like Nathan said, at the end of it all, she just wanted a family. She wanted the things that her sister had that she did not have.

The poor child.

Cut for speculation.
Saya is very abusive to Haji, though I wonder whether things will change when she wakes up next, or even if she does. I have a theory that perhaps once the previous generation’s Queen is dead, the other Queen will fall into a deep sleep, never to awakened. She is given extra time to appreciate all life has to offer before she sleeps for the rest of eternity.

I suspect that could be the case, as there is no indication of what happened with the previous Queens. There is speculation that Nathan is either the Chevalier of Saya and Diva’s mother, or their aunt. Personally, I am leaning towards the latter, because if Nathan was the Chevalier of their Mother, he would have probably ingratiated himself somehow with Amshel and Joel from the very beginning. From the way Diva’s Chevaliers behaved to Haji and Riku themselves, when you become a Chevalier, you will be completely obsessed with the Queen who made you.

But that’s not all. According to the series, once a Queen has had children, her blood loses its potency to kill her sister Queen. Yet when we first meet SAYA (the being that birthed Saya and Diva), we find that she is not crystallised, but rather mummified.

This leads me to believe that their Mother might have destroyed her sister, their aunt, before being entombed. Once she was entombed, she carried her children, but her consciousness slipped away, so she was never to awaken. This would explain why Joel and Amshel were able to conduct post mortem on her without her awakening.

I for one, think that the same will happen to Saya. Although she is not crystallised, but the blood she exchanged with her sister in their Final battle might have triggered a reaction in her body. She was given that extra time to say goodbye (and bear in mind, Saya was on the verge of slipping into her deep sleep before that battle, yet we see her more or less completely awake in the last episode) to everyone before she slept for eternity.

I pity poor Haji. Anata wo ashitemas. So bittersweet.

I hope I’m wrong. I’ll admit, I DO want a sequel to Blood+, if only to know what happens to Haji and Saya, not to mention Diva’s twins, but I highly doubt that would happen, and I hope it will not. It would be too painful if it did happen.

If you have the money, go get the OST! From Wikipedia:

… the entire musical score for Blood+ was the work of noted film score producer Hans Zimmer and noted composer Mark Mancina.[15]

It would explain the epicness of the Soundtrack. I cannot stop writing when listening to it. *Goes to upload the OST into her mp3 player now*
