Someone sent me a link to Do Something, which inspires, empower and celebrates youths taking action for a cause they love. It had a list of interesting campaign slogans including one called, “Save 2nd Base.”

2nd Base in American makeout terms means heavy petting and groping. Appropriately, Save 2nd Base uses humour to raise funds for breast cancer, specifically concentrating on research for cancer patients under 40. What I like about this breast cancer campaign is that it doesn’t just focus on women. Make outs are usually done with a partner, and so this slogan implies that breast cancer doesn’t just affect one person.

It affects the people you love. It’s a message not to the breast cancer patient, but to the people who love that patient, that they’re not in this alone.
