TL;DR: Watch it at least twice. There are parts I disagree with. Overall though? 9/10, would definitely watch again (and I intend to!).

Longer version: Joss Whedon sacrificed action and characters for story. And it works.

There’s a lot of story here. A lot. Whedon has to do something he doesn’t really like, which is to leave things open, deliberately, for the sequels that is to come. He has, in a single movie, set up the settings for the following movies:

• Captain America: Civil War (so fucking done I don’t think it could have been set up any better)
• Black Panther
• ALL THE FOLLOWING AVENGER MOVIES
• Maybe Thor 3? I’m not too sure of this one

You see more of the characters in this movie, and more of their story arcs, but the subtle, switching style of Black Widow is gone. It actually kind of makes sense. In Hulks 1 – 3 you saw how the Hulk’s character and core literally change with each different actor, but Natasha…

Man, she’s something else entirely. It feels like seeing someone grow literally, before your eyes, from this “get out of my way I am just doing my job and getting paid for it” vibe to this person who’s actually beginning to make her own choices. For herself. She has grown emotionally as a human being, and it’s really painful to see her opening up, because there’s all this chance for hurt.

Which brings me to my next point.

Bruce Banner, you are a dickhead.

Not going to say more, except that yeah, go watch. Please. I know a lot of people are probably going to pan the movie, but honestly?

This is a blockbuster movie to me. Not a lot of brains required. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to add. More female characters, woohoo! 😀 I like the fact that the girls in the movie all play a fairly active role. Wanda and Pietro were heartbreaking though. Wonderfully. There’s only one thing left for me to say:

WHY THE HELL ARE THERE NO SCARLET WITCH OR BLACK WIDOW MERCHANDISE???
