[Contest] Rediscovering the Wonders of Milk

Milk Loves You

It had been a long time since I had my last fix. It was an addiction that stayed with me, all the way up to college. Upon entering college, I found my taste for it… disappeared. The classic version I found had a taste that made me gag, and the flavoured versions were no longer appealing.

So as time went on, I just forget it existed. Sure, I’d see friends with it once in a while, but it was always like a dirty secret. It would be emptied, thrown away, without a second thought.

It was like, such a kiddie drink.

Until I started working with the Construction Company’s e-newsletter team. Then I truly rediscovered it.

I can imagine it now. Smooth, thick, chilled… the sensous sensation on my tongue as I drank it down. It felt like silk, like hot butter on a pan, like melting on a hot day. It also had the advantage of keeping me going for the next few hours without needing to eat something like a bun. In effect, it became my meal subsitute.

But ah…

Milk.

Chocolate Milk, to be exact. And if you want to get really intimate with my poison…

Goodday Chocolate Milk.

When I was a kid, I preferred HL Milk, but not even Dutch Lady can compete with Goodday now. It’s almost sinful, drinking Goodday Chocolate Milk. If I don’t feel like something sweet, then there’s always soya bean milk.

Yes, soya bean. Wonderful inventions they are. Perfect for someone who’s mildly lactose-intolerant like I am. And these things were lifesavers when I went for my coffee-free Lent fast.

Milk… it really does love me. I’m glad to have rediscovered it after all this time!

INCOMING AD:

The above entry was written for MilkLovesYou’s Rediscovering the Wonders of Milk contest! The first prize’s a Asus eeePC1002 netbook, and I think Mizi needs a younger sister, don’t you? 😀 VOTE FOR MY ENTRY WHEN IT GETS MODERATED PLEASE?

Never underestimate

The power of a hot shower without and a hot meal within. When you feel like you’re about to fall sick, it does wonders to make you feel human and all right again.

Though I think I’ll sleep now as I’m threatening to sneeze again, and really, it’s no fun sneezing when you cannot threaten people “I sneeze in your general direction!” 😛

Cookies to whoever gets the reference. 😀

Trial Cups for sale~

Ok, this is mainly for the Ladies.

Previously I mentioned that TinyTapir sold menstrual cups at RM130 each. I know a lot of people are hesitant to try them because of the price, and there’s now an alternative. The people behind the Ladycup are offering trial cups for RM25, including shipping (actually around RM23 something, but I’m too lazy to check the exact price now).

The offer is here.

Things to note:

According to the Menstrual Cups community on LJ, the cups could be from batches that are defective. The cups might split, hence the “one use minimum” guarantee. Splitting cups are unusual, but previous reports and emails from their representatives say that these are most likely caused by the colouring process.

That said, I think it’s still a good trial for those who’d like to try out a cup cheaply. If you like it, you can always order the actual thing. I like the Blue Cup myself, but I’m very happy with my clear LadyCup for now.

Lemme know if you do try one. I’d like to know how the experience works for you.

Random PSA

Mainly for the ladies, according to a cat dear to my heart, the Insteads Softcups (disposable versions of the menstrual cups) are now available at selected Watsons’ outlets throughout the Klang Valley. A pack of 5 is being sold for RM19.90 (cheap, IMO, when you consider how long they can last).

Personally, I have a few questions regarding the Insteads. If you’re thinking about getting one, make sure to ask:

How does one dispose of a disposable menstrual cup?
How does one remove it (I ask this because the stem of most menstrual cups, if not removed, is a pretty big help for women during removal)?

Those are two questions I’d like to know about it, will probably get them answered when I drop by Watson’s. In case you’re wondering, the first confirmed spotting of the Insteads Softcup in Malaysia was at Watsons’ Sungai Wang.

Please, whatever you do, do NOT use the C-fold, which is the default method used by the companies. Take a gander instead at these folds, most of which are generally MUCH nicer.

This has been a random menstrual tip.

Edit: Ah, now I know why there were promoters for the Insteads Softcup. It was launched recently.
