[Poem] Cold Comforts

Cold hands against a feverish skin
Blessed water upon parched lips
Air out the breeze, let it in
Let the cold refresh the room

A cube of ice on her forehead
Blessed relief for but a moment
With a deep breath, let the cold in
In the warm night, the cold is king

Rain rain, let it fall
What was once warm now turned cold
Care of a husband, cold comfort it had been
Cold balm to soothe the fevered body.
